Next wedding of the year was at a venue I have visited many times - Norton House. It was the first time I had been into the recently completed extension, and the rooms are absolutely stunning. Jon and the team ran a great event for Lily & Pete, especially with the challenging weather - snow one minute, sunshine the next - threatening to mess up the schedule.
The day started at Lily's father's magnificent 200 year old Georgian house in Colinton - Spylaw Bank House - with the usual scenes of organised chaos typical of every wedding, before we all moved to Norton House itself for the ceremony & reception.
With many of the guests having traveled from England it was a pleasant surprise to see so many kilts in evidence, and both families & friends seemed to have a great time.

Sue & Ally got married at Garvock House Hotel in Dunfermline on Saturday, which meant I had to leave Anna & Catherine working at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange Wedding Fair and shoot their wedding. It was also the first time in a while I've been to a wedding on my own as Callum who normally carries the gear & assists me was appearing in a show along the road in Kirkcaldy (which I went to see on Thursday night).
Australian bride & bridesmaids, Scottish groom, Best Man from New York, not to mention guests from all over the world too - this was a truly international wedding! Borthwick Castle is as Scottish as a castle can be, with 600 years of history and a view to die for. The wedding was expertly run by Gail and her team, with Chef Scott doing the honours in the kitchen providing a traditional dinner of soup, haggis, the best roast beef I have ever had, and pavlova. Evening entertainment was a local ceilidh band followed by a disco, and when Callum & I left the party was in full swing!
Had an excellent day at the Edinburgh Wedding Show today, our new Custom Wedding Book is proving really popular. Hello to everyone who came to see us today, especially the couples who booked with us at the show - Jennifer & Alex and Laura & Gary.
Yes, it's Wedding Fair time again, although it seems like my feet have only just recovered from the last one!

It was the first time I had used the new Nikon D3 camera on a job, and the results are simply stunning. Don't take my word for it - check out the collection for yourself here. Four days into the new year and already I've shot two weddings .... it's going to be a busy year!
Christine and Ross, who we photographed a few days before the wedding in the Edinburgh Botanic Gardens, got married yesterday. There was snow on the ground, quite a change from their usual place of residence - Grand Cayman.
Christine was transported to the church in great style by Fred Multon of Wedding Classics in a beautiful 1931 Sunbeam 20. I first met Fred in 1992 and it's always a pleasure to renew the acquaintance, particularly as I have a soft spot for old cars myself. The Wedding Classics collection is run by Fred's daughter Polly and consists of a variety of genuine vintage cars, all in fabulous condition. If you have yet to book your cars you must check them out.
The church was a first for me for despite being in central Edinburgh it is constructed entirely of wood! It looked absolutely stunning inside and out as you can see from the pictures. After the marriage ceremony and a few pictures outside with the children from Christine's former primary school pupils we moved on to the George Hotel for the reception who laid on a superb function with entertainment by surely the hardest working wedding band in Scotland - Callanish.
Special mention must be made of the superb cake, featuring scenes from around Grand Cayman. I've never seen an iguana on a wedding cake before! It was a fabulous piece of work.
A great time was had by all, though none more so than Christine and Ross themselves - they never stopped smiling throughout the day and photographing them was a huge pleasure. I was assisted throughout the day by my son Callum who did a sterling job of carrying all the bags and generally helping out wherever needed.
Christine and Ross are off to New York for their honeymoon, staying at the Waldorf in New York before returning to Grand Cayman to rebuild their tans & get back to work!
Here are some of my favourite pictures from the day - normally I try and limit this to about twenty shots, but with Christine & Ross's wedding there was so much going on that I couldn't choose. The last shoot of 2007 becomes the first post of 2008 - and the first to use our new slideshow too. Christine and Ross look happy don't they - they should do, they're getting married on Friday! They are both currently working in Grand Cayman, but are currently in Edinburgh for Christmas ... and their wedding, so we met up at the Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh for some pre-wedding pictures. My son Callum will be assisting me at weddings this year and it was a good chance to break him in gently, as well as trying out my two brand-new Nikon cameras (a D3 and a D300 for those that care about such things). Despite it being a miserable overcast day I'm very pleased with the results - it's going to be a great year.

Saturday saw us back once more at the beautiful Melville Castle near Edinburgh for Kirsten & Andrew's wedding. Despite the rugby World Cup their friends and family were out in force, many having traveled from south of the border for the occasion.
The service was conducted by Andrew's Aunt, who happens to be a minister in Wolverhampton, which added a special intimacy to the whole ceremony. Even the weather was on our side, and we were able to get some fabulous pictures both in the castle itself and around the grounds. Here are some of my favourites from the day:

If you've seen us at one of the recent wedding fairs then you won't have failed to notice our new range of frames! The reaction has been fantastic, especially the multi-image frames which are a very modern and unique way to display your wedding photos. The frames are hand-made and feature special non-reflective glass, with sizes from 10x8 up to 32x28 (that's big - really big!)
Here's a few to whet your appetite from our display, there is a huge variety of styles available and we now have samples of every frame in the range to show.

While Anna was at the Corn Exchange (see previous post) I was just up the road at George Heriot's for the wedding of Sarah-Jane and Chris. I've covered weddings there before, and it is a very unusual venue - not often people get married in a school! After the wedding the rain held off while we took lots of pictures around the grounds, then it was off to the fabulous Holyrood Hotel for an epic reception. The party was in full swing when we left at around 10.30pm, and I imagine there were a good few sore heads on Sunday morning! As I write this Sarah-Jane and Chris will already be in Costa Rica on their honeymoon, so here are a few pictures from the day:
Saturday and Sunday saw the regular wedding fair at The Corn Exchange in Edinburgh. Like most of the exhibitors we've been going to this show for years, and if you weren't there you missed probably the best show of the year (don't worry, there's another in February 08). It's not the biggest show of the year but it has a friendly atmosphere that makes it much more enjoyable for visitors and exhibitors alike.
For this years show we had a new stand, picked specifically to show off our new range of frames - everybody who saw them commented how great they looked, especially the multi-image frames which is a new line for us, and pretty much unique.
I was at a wedding on the Saturday so Anna was on her own for most of the day, but we were both there on Sunday - if you were at the show we hope you enjoyed it. Response was excellent, and 2008 dates are going fast, so if you haven't already booked best get your skates on!
What a weekend - my feet still hurt! It was always going to be tough - two big weddings plus a two-day wedding fair, all in 72 hours!
First up was Friday's wedding - Laura & Simon's at Airth Castle. This was my first visit to Airth Castle for a few years, and the venue has been refurbished extensively, restoring it to it's previous glory.
As is usually the case I started in the morning with the girls getting ready at Laura's parents' house, and then headed over to the castle for the wedding itself. Here are a few of my favourite pictures from the day:
