Alison & Ron's Blessing

Apologies for the late posting, immediately after photographing Alison & Ron's wedding I flew to Wales to film The Reasoning playing a gig at The Point in Cardiff Bay. I've been the venue a few times over the last couple of years with various bands, and it is one of my favourite places for a gig. Unfortunately the event was cancelled at very short notice (through no fault either band or venue), so the band were kind enough to invite me for a few beers .... it's a jet-set (well, EasyJet-set) life as a photographer! I've yet to see The Reasoning play live, but their new album Awakening is excellent and I'm sure they will do very well.

Anyway, back to the wedding, or to be more precise, the blessing. Alison and Ron have been married for years, but due to circumstances (Ron is in the Army) it proved impossible for them to have the wedding they wanted at the time. This was the first blessing I had covered (and the first time for the minister as well it turned out), and it was a remarkable and unique ceremony following the traditional lines of a wedding.

As usual I started by going to the house where Alison and her girls were getting ready. As Alison's father is sadly no longer around the job of escorting her down the aisle was handled by Ron's Dad (in the centre, obviously)

Ron at the church, in the sunshine:

Inside the church just before Alison arrived .... "Have you got the rings mate?"

The happy couple emerge ....

You wouldn't think they'd been married for years - obviously still very much in love

After the ceremony we were off to Arbroath for the reception. I had some competition in the photography department:

As often seems to be the case I stayed much longer than planned, it was a party to remember! Fortunately Arbroath has the best fish & chips in the world :-)
